SR 99 Bored Tunnel Project

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The project involves the construction of two new buildings at the north and south entrances to the new SR-99 Tunnel to replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct. The buildings will provide facilities for WSDOT personnel to operate and maintain the new tunnel. This is a design-build project under which Shinn Mechanical’s subcontract was negotiated. Our scope of work includes all mechanical aspects including hydronic piping, HVAC, plumbing, controls, insulation, and testing and balancing. Shinn was also responsible for leading the BIM coordination process with the electrical and fire protection contractors.
